Thanks all, I know the majority always say leave alone. And can't say I don't completely disagree, however I'm also in favor of ugly being made prettier.
(ie. nothing wrong with a lil' makeup on the ladies)...... but........say this ticket were to be put in a PSA holder, those 2 pieces would float around, even overlap, thus not display ideally. (and I will post the ticket in question when it arrives in the next day or so). Of course no one here mentioned PSA. So if not going that route I like the ideas given, just undecided still on my route. Again I'll post when it arrives. And Scott nothing wrong with a stub, but you will see when I post, the seat number, section etc is on one half the other half does not have that, so they need to go together, rather then 2 stubs. |

For what it's worth, I've had this situation before with a ticket that I was considering getting slabbed by PSA and they said they wouldn't accept it in two pieces. They suggested reconnecting the two pieces using archival document repair tape (readily available on Amazon). I was curious so I did it (taped only on the reverse, as Scott mentioned earlier), and it turned out pretty nice in terms of how it displays on the front, and even the reverse wasn't too bad. I never did get it slabbed though and I probably wouldn't do this again. For me personally, this seems like a perfectly reasonable solution to get optimal display quality for tickets that have primarily personal or sentimental value. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't do it. But just FYI in case PSA is the goal.

label will indicate "taped" do not ask for grade . anything is better than say "Laminated" or "proof"which reduces the value about 90% |

I’ve done everything mentioned with tickets worth hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Psa is inconsistent with how they mark tickets as well. Sometimes will call it a full, sometimes will say reinforced, sometimes reattached, sometimes refuse to holder (if they don’t think the two sides are from the same ticket). You can also slab both pieces and they will call both stubs. Many times they should call a piece an audit stub but they don’t consistently. I hate it when smaller stubs get graded and grade high, but that is a different point. If You Tape, MAKE SURE IT IS ARCHIVAL TAPE... I definitely would use archival tape to reattach an expensive full together. You would get more money out of your example by selling each as stubs...

I hear you... With this specific 2131 ticket, virtually all of the resale dollar value disappeared when the ticket was stubbed because of the fact they did not tear these tickets upon entry to the game. At this point all that remains is the sentimental value, IMHO. As I stated before, there are large quantities of perfect, NM or MT condition examples out there which would be readily available to anyone wanting to grade a ticket to this game. Disclaimer: As I have mentioned before, I am NOT a fan of PSA grading tickets. Collect the ticket, not the slab. Why make PSA rich? ![]() Good collecting, Scott Last edited by Scott Garner; 02-19-2018 at 08:18 PM. |

Scott, that ticket I pictured was the only one I could find showing 2 pieces, that is not the one I have. I was just saying any ticket in general that has been separated what would you do. Put it back together so it displays better, and if so how, or leave as is.

If it is a rare vintage ticket, I would never consider fooling with it. Keep both pieces together for posterity sake, but not alter original condition... Last edited by Scott Garner; 02-19-2018 at 09:33 PM. |
