1985 such a different world. What we were thought were unacceptable conflicts of interest in those days today would be just shrugged aside.

The whole thing with SCD was because they, as a publication, tended to truly dislike the east coast and the Midwest was their strong hold.

Would the show in 1986 had been better than Arlington TX. I don't think so but I don't know but in terms of the concept of the National trying the Southwest was a better idea

I rteally enjoy seeing these old price lists and those look like they would be alot of fun to own. Never had the pleasure of talking to or dealing with Lew but he from what ever one says seems like a hobby legend.

Lew was a hobby giant during his time. Not only did he have encyclopedic knowledge of cards, he was a gifted writer who could present his research, and views, in an interesting way. All his content was self generated, unlike later publications which needed to rely on the kindness of others to do their research.

I wrote a few articles for TOJ. It was the best of its kind while it lasted. I also have a complete run. And Leon is correct, there was no issue #49.
