I just updated my Excel spreadsheet, adding all 121 cards to it (previously, I just had the cards I actually own reflected on it), and including the weighting in Brian's first post. I got a total number of 250 also, so it looks like the numbers are correct.
My number of 93 is also correct. Steve

The latest revision brings me up to 190, if my math is correct. Perhaps someone would be kind enough to double check for me. I lack Jackson, Keeler (throwing), McLean, Miller (no sunset). O'Connor, Richie, Sheckard, Stahl, Stovall, both Wagners and both Youngs.

All I can say is I suck. Frank will probably bust a gut laughing after seeing all the changes I have made to the Kraken (because of my foolhardiness) whilst his T206 Monster has been clean and pristine from the get go.
Here is the bad news...I was just about to tally up edhans total and I saw that at some point I accidently removed Cy Young (Cleveland) from my point list. The other Brian (the guy who movitated me to create this thing) pointed out in post #43 that my point total only came up to 244 points, not 250. Why that happened is that when I updated the points I accidentally left off Cy Young (Cleveland) which I valued in my previous point system at 7. Dropping him off essentially left him at a point value of 1, thus creating that 6 point spread. I subsquentially bumped up the value of Bemis, O'Connor and Seigle to 3 (from 1 point) to get things back to the 250 total value. Here is our dilemma...what to do. I drop down to my knees and beg your forgiveness, and present two options: 1. Assign the re-instituted Cy Young (Cleveland) a 7 point value, and drop the Bemis, O'Connor and Seigle from 3 points to 1 point, giving us 250 points. 2. Assign the reinstituted Cy Young (Cleveland) a 5 point value, and drop two 3 pointers back to 1 point status, giving us 250 points. Man I really screwed things up by leaving that Young off...please don't put me on your naughty list this Christmas season, and I will heed any suggestions you might fling my way, including those involving punishment involving a wet noodle. Picked up the O'Connor and Young-Boston. Still need Jackson, Keeler-Throwing, both Wagners and Young-Cleveland. Hope to knock one more off the list by the end of the year.

Way to make a big Kraken splash upon entry into the E-Monster sea.
And Anson is correct, the Wagner throwing is one tough thummergummer, definitely worthy of its 10 Kraken point status. Your Cy Young Cleveland is no slouch either...good luck on the pursuit of the final ten cards you need. Brian |

One of the few cards I still needed has arrived.
Ok I’m corny, but I was saving this player for the penultimate card to the Kraken Quest. (I’m not buying a Joe Jax so I will be pleased with the rest) I was saving Butler, a single kraken pointer to use the corny title of this post but I grew restless. Finding cards in this set ain’t easy... I bought it early. Kraken Keeper could you plus one for me? Congrats to the other recent incoming cards too. My man Anson is right on my dorsal fin!

Joining the list here, i have 19 cards, but some of the harder ones already clocking in at 61 points. Slow slog…picked up 2 in REA last night, got fatigued on all the lots…would have preferred a group! My best are a speaker (psa 2), a Mitchell (raw), Cobb and Red Keeler. Wish I had prioritized a long time ago (as I am sure you all are thinking….). It has become one of my favorite sets.

That was a strong number! Saw that. I love that Speaker card and pose, it’s one of the best cards period.
I remember when i bought most of the tough ones in a Clean Sweep Auction (8 years ago?), i would buy cards like that i liked and then think, what am i doing buying random cards (i am pretty big on set collecting and having a purpose to my buys besides “cool card I will buy some of those”)? If you are going to set collect you have to buy the big ones first or its hard to ever finish, and I did some of that with those E90-1s back then, but never got the Jackson and haven’t made much more progress yet…stared at many of them. But BOY am I glad now that i did buy things like that…i also bought a Wilson Franks Williams like that, because I love the silly hot dog package floating on the cards…and it was Ted Williams, no great risk or leap of course….went for almost $20k last night??! |

Sorry to be late to the thread, I started collecting this set a few years ago, but only recently increased focus.
I have 101 of the 120 cards, but most of the ones i'm missing are the big ones (have jackson, but missing both wagners, speaker, mike mitchell, duffy, keeler red and thorwing, etc). By my calculation, total points for me is at 160. PS, only 57 of the cards are PSA graded, the others are SGC and raw, but am going for the registry set at some point. my set is ranked #8 and super creatively called "Joey's E90-1s" If anyone has interest in trading or selling to help me (or help eachother) with their Kraken sets, please drop me a line! Thanks Joey -

Well, I can say that my Kraken journey has finally come to an end! I completed my E91 American Caramel set (A/B/C) at the National and now am at the end of the line on E90-1.
Mr. Stahl is on the way to me in the mail and today, the Honus Wagner batting card showed up in the mail. I won't be pursuing Shoeless Joe unless all of the stars align, so I think it's safe to say that 230 Kraken points is probably as far as I'm going to get. As far as I can tell, it took me about eight years, though I wasn't too serious about collecting them for a while in between. Best of luck to all of you with your E90-1 journeys. I look forward to continuing to follow this thread. It's a fantastic set and unless you collect them, you don't truly know just how tough some of the cards are to find.

Great thread and a great set and well deserves the treatment it has received here. Bravo. I don’t currently collect it but felt like I lived the journeys of many through these posts and pics.
Enjoyed all 11 pages. RayB Edited to add I used to own the Cobb but sold a dozen years ago. Shame.
