The vast majority of my photos are not hanging either. What I have begun to do is print out high quality copies and hang those. No one can really tell the difference and the originals are safe and sound.
I started doing it with a few autos. Johnson check. It is really hard to tell in person, especially if you have never seen the original  young 3x5
