Fueled by PSA and their stupid question mark nonsense.

I agree, still have not figured out why exactly they do it that way. SGC would mark it counterfeit so the scammers can't take advantage of a stupid "?".
On the up side the seller is donating 10% to a charity. ![]() |

I don't get it either. Everything they do is an exercise in judgment. If they say in our professional opinion it is not genuine, so be it. It's like for some reason they are afraid to call a spade a spade.

Still, anyone who looks at that "PSA ? authenticity" and pays $5K for it deserves to get ripped off. ![]() |

I have another question: why does PSA give it a cert# when they don't believe that its authentic, and they don't slab it?

Besides the "? AUTHTCT" I have seen them put "NOHOLDER" on counterfeit cards. I had a fellow Bill Ripken error collector send me these flips. It is a known counterfeit card among collectors of the Bill Ripken variations. Sometimes PSA grades them as real and sometimes they reject them. |

I believe the cert number is produced when they're logged in, not after the fact.
