He was an average hitter OPS+ 96. He was average defensively dWAR 4.0. He was an average manager, .477 winning percentage, no pennants. The Hall of Fame is for the best, not those that play and manage for a long time.

HOF Is there to tell the history of the sport. He could be mentioned at places in the hall of fame but being inducted as a player, I say no way, and I am very lenient on who should and should not be in. Longevity itself should not be enough for HOF induction. Maybe the A's and or Whitesox HOF but not the Baseball Hall Of Fame.

NO -- but the Hall of Very Good would love to have him.
People such as Dykes, Buck O'Neil, many coaches (they are not eligible) such as Frankie Crosetti and Charley Lau, etc. should be in a contributor section where they are not HOFers but honored for their lifelong baseball service.
