Thank you very much, I saw the 1962 Topps Master Set listed but completely missed the Super Listing. This is a great start, I think 691 cards is a great start, but I think there are more variations with the checklists. Thanks again. Any additions to this 691 list would be appreciated.

Richard D's variation list is found on this site.....
https://sites.google.com/site/richar...ns-1960---1969 Once you scroll down to the 62s, you will find some additional variations that do not appear on the PSA super set. |

And there was a recent discussion that one of the PSA variations doesn't actually exist and is a relabel. Check the Willey thread.

I see on Richard's D list that he has 2 cards listed for # 159 Reniff. There is only 1 card of # 159 , his regular portrait. The green tint of him pitching is # 139, he also has a regular portrait # 139

Here's the thread John referred to:
http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=243793 Whatever your final list is, you gotta add the Dick Hall 'soul patch' variation to it. Card #189, non-green-tint version. It's pretty plentiful (and its position on his face definitely varies when you see a bunch of them). Check out the 2 cards on the right: 1962hall189.jpg

Not sure how you would determine a true master set for 1962 or any other year unless you just adopt some source checklist like SCD, Beckett or the PSA Registry. Other wise someone can always add to the list.
I think there are at least 2 versions of each checklist. Daren's work on the green tints is superb. There are even more versions of the Hall card he posted, and there are recurring variants of Sawatski. Woodling, Fox ( GT), Sadecki, Duren, Power and McDaniel that I know of, and likely others as well |

My apologies if it seems I'm trying to hijack this thread. But while we're on the subject of 1962 Topps, does anybody know of a good way to tell the difference between a raw reprint and an original from a scan ? I've seen Aarons and Mantles reprints that look seemingly just like the originals.
For example, here's an Aaron http://www.ebay.com/itm/1962-TOPPS-HANK-AARON-320-CARD-RP-/142489760334?hash=item212d0d324e:g ![]() |

I think variations are different photos or misspellings etc. All cards in all sets come with print marks etc on them. I don't and the veteran card collectors and checklists only list the errors which were corrected, not a dot in the top corner or a red mark etc. If so, then all cards with various off-center cuts would be variations 50-50, 60-40, 90-10 etc. which is absurd.
It will be impossible to get a final count or a consenus on the variations in the 1962 Topps Set but it appears to be at least 694 + ( a lot of wood color variations would be hundreds more ).
