You can request they only crack if same or higher. they then only crack if they can ascertain if it will cross over while in the holder. they error on the side of caution and if not 100% do not crack out. i have done it many times. cards that deserve to cross usually cross about 75% of the time in my experience. I usually crck the remainder if i am confident they should cross and Id say about 85% cross after crack out 5 % get higher and 10 % get a grade lower or come back altered (not common).

I was referring to SGC cards BVG/BGS are too often sheet cut or post factory cut, in my opinion, for me to buy enough to try and cross.
