Stupid question about pronounciation

Well, his first name was actually Johannes, and from wikipedia (which is always true but in this case probably is):

Wagner was one of nine children. As a child, he was called Hans by his mother, which later evolved into Honus. "Hans" was also an alternate nickname during his major league career.

So it appears that Hah-nus is the way to go.

I have been fairly certain, for a long time, that his name was pronounced HAH-niss. It's nice to see that theory gaining a little traction.

Actually, if you hover your mouse over the pronunciation portion of his name, it says the "o" is pronounced as in "body". Bah-dee, Hah-nus.
