Undoubtedly Canadian, as strongly suggested first by "Imperial Series," and all but confirmed by
the original owner's signature, which appears to be "J Edward [or Edmond] Bergeron, Bromptonville." Bromptonville is in the largely Anglophone "eastern townships" of Quebec, just north of Vermont (noting as well that the script on the page facing the signature is in French).
