This was the #1 card on my want list. I am absolutely thrilled to be able to check it off.

Default It's been too long...

Been a while since I had any pre-war pick-ups. A couple of minor additions to the collection:

One is a beauty, the other an absolute beast (beater), but tough to find an Evers Piedmont Fact 42 in any condition.

Great Cy, now about that Evers.....

I guess that it's lucky there was enough of the back left to see the factory number.

Luckily you can make out (barely) the "42" and you can see in upper left its clearly a 350-460. Otherwise, we would have to take SGC's word for it. Ugly card indeed

Thanks, Sean, thrilled with it. PSA/SGC pops have it slightly rarer than the Hindu (don't know if that relates truly to reality).

It actually is a "never say never" purchase. I've seen it many times on ebay over the mounts. BUT, it was a Dean's card (who I think has slightly over priced cards), so I never clicked on it. No indication of back in title. The other day, for some reason I finally clicked ----- Sov.150 !!!! Almost fainted. Went to his web-site and got it for a very decent price ......

Fun stuff, Scott

Does anyone know why the Cubs are wearing the Whales old uniforms?

When the Federal League disbanded after the 1915 season, Charles Weeghman, who had been the owner of the Whales, purchased the Cubs and merged the rosters of the two teams. Apparently, the Cubs wore Whale uniforms during spring training, and during the season their uniforms had a new logo that was essentially the 1915 Whales' logo with a bear in place of the whale.

This is interesting. I always thought that the Cubs purchased the ballpark (now called Wrigley Field) from the owner of the Whales. But it turns out that the owner of the Whales purchased the Cubs instead.
