Default O-pee-chee

Took my player collecting into O-Pee-Chee. Had resisted for a little while, because the cards are identical (almost) to the Topps cards, but I really like these, mainly for the centering/looks for the grade.

Thanks a lot - Clemente is my favorite player to collect, and that's one of my favorite mainstream issues!

Thanks - Maris is one of my favorites and I find him really under-appreciated.

He also has a ton of great looking cards in his Topps issues - '58, '60, '61, '62, '65, 66, '67 - those are just a few of my favorites!

Thanks, Nelson. I'm slowly but surely getting there, if I ever completely get there, but I'm enjoying doing what I can.

Nice cards!

Maybe I'm wrong, but aren't O-Pee-Chee's a little tougher to find and therefore also more valuable? I know this is the case with some Hockey cards but I'm not 100% sure with baseball however?

A candidate for the "Ugliest Set Ever"!!!

RARE set to be sure, but dang they are ugly!!! This is how they were made in strips of 3 players.

Let's see how good you guys are... Identify the set! If nobody gets it I'll let you know.

The correct answer is one of the first "Collector Issues" made for sale within the hobby.

1969 Rocco Malanga New York Yankees "Team Issue"

Rocco Malanga was an amateur artist and I believe he made these available in the state I showed earlier (4 strips of 3 cards). I had known about them for years but had never actually seen a set available.

Default '52 Topps Phillies: collection growing but sloooooowleeee

....just added the Con Dempsey and Karl Drews ; I can't get a clear scan of the Drews because of the Beckett brick he's in but he looks scary enough even with a slight blur ......his '53 Bowman Color is equally off-putting.....the uniforms and caps of the Phillies make for some very eye-candy 1952 Topps cards....

...I could never financially justify finishing even the base set of '52's but it's fun to pick and choose something inside the set that captures your fancy....

...

Is it possible these could be game pieces of some kind?

Mike
