I wildly overpaid for a T206 Speaker, which I didn't need, and was not on the list of 3 cards I was targeting tonight. Oh well. It happens.

nice card, congrats. I bowed out one or two bids below your bid. It's a beauty!

I didn't even bid this time. Believe it or not. Though there were some nice items in the auction, there was nothing there I really had to have, that I even thought might stay in my budget. I was right. Your Eddie Collins Tango Eggs seemed like you got a good deal, but I was most surprised that the Zimmerman nearly doubled the Weaver (even though it is really Tinker) in that issue.

Zimmerman is an unbelievably tough card. Last time it was offered it sold for $2500.
Weaver is relatively easy. Bridwell that was in the big lot of Tango's is extremely tough too. Both lots were steals IMO.

It wasn't the Zimmerman that surprised me, but Weaver. Most issues Weaver gets a big premium, even when the pop to other cards in the series is higher. Look at 1911 Zeenut, Weaver is not that hard a card to find, but he demands a huge premium, while the much scarcer Heitmuller large pose gets barely a bump (hi tbob).

I had a quick question about Heritage. I was looking at some of the 19th century cards and noticed the 1887 Old Judge John L. Sullivan. It was graded PSA 1 (much nicer looking but with some paper loss on the back). HA set the estimate at $2K+. That seemed high and I found that a similar card graded SGC 3/40 sold on PWCC last December for $620. Where does Heritage get their estimate? Some of the ones on my watch list sold for less than 60% of the estimate (68 Bench PSA 10). Are they just trying to increase the sale price or do these estimates come from somewhere?

Thanks for this comment, and thanks to Chuck above. Helps ease the buyer's remorse. I've convinced myself I'm going on a Sweet Caporal Factory # back run, if that's even a thing.

I was happy to get outbid on a 1952 Topps almost set lot. Thanks whoever outbid me by 1 bid, I regretted being the high bid and waiting awhile to a point i was sweating it out to get outbid!

Been there, done that! Paid $150-$200 too much for a '59 Bazooka Banks in an auction about a year ago--hoped I would be outbid, but wasn't. It is, however, my favorite Ernie Banks card, I needed it, and it is one of his tougher issues, being a short print.

Regards,

Larry
