Good research, thanks very much. The 2 "cards" I have are exactly as you say. The Ruth card is 2" x 1-1/4" and the Dempsey is 2" x 1- 7/16" a little wider. In inspecting the cards it doesn't appear they are paper glued to cardboard, there is no separation or waffling/wrinkling from glue of the paper onto the cardboard but I guess it could. It appears to me that the "ad" cards may have been used on some cardboard somewhere. It appears to me that they image is on/part of the cardboard. The "cards" are sharp with excellent corners.

This could be the source of your cardboard card. About 2.5" x 1.75".

Edit: I take it back. It's not even the same picture.

I've never heard of any cards issued with the Aurora models. They certainly look like Frankencards made from advertising of some sort.

There were some arguable cards made to be cut out of the back of a comic book. Like this one from Dell in the 1950s:

The fine print under Rosen says "Cut this photo out. Look for different Champion pictures in other Dell Comics."

Without igniting a debate on the nature of a card, I'd say where the mfg wanted the customer to cut it out and save it, it is on the card spectrum. The Aurora items show no signs of that.
