Beautiful cards and signatures Jason! I've always liked the look of fountain pen on these old cards. How long have you been working on this set for?

Incredible job, of the remaining needs do they simply not exist, or do you know of their existence but price is too much? Best of luck finishing.

Amazing cards!

I think one or two missing names ended in a recent auction house with some really incredible prices. I'd be hesistant to say any dont exist since there are no in memoriam cards and all players lived until at least the end of the year. I've been told cards "cant exist" and eventually they've shown up! Even if you cant win them all, just seeing they exist sometimes fuels the fire to keep going. A hobby can turn into a thankless task, when all resoirces are exhausted

I mean it's OK, but I think too many of them are cut up. You should immediately send all the trimmed ones to me for disposal. I wouldn't want them to ruin your collection.

Great job buddy. That is one serious accomplishment. Congrats.

Default Follow-up

I appreciate the kind words. I started the set in 2010, but I was only planning to collect the HOF players at that time. In February 2015 I flew to Detroit to purchase the collection of the Tigers ballboy from 1934-35, which included over 90 signed 33 Goudeys. In October 2015 I purchased Sean Brennan's amazing Goudey collection. Among the HOFers I already had and the two collections I purchased I was right around the 200 mark, so I began trying for the set in earnest. Huggins and Scott sold a large collection last August. I added four that I needed from that auction. The only one I've seen for auction and missed was Earl Clark. A friend who is also working on the set bought it for $16,500. I wasn't willing to pay that much, but I have since regretted that as he died in 1938 and another one may not exist. I have around 30 that the PSA population report lists as 1 of 1. Moe Berg and Tris Speaker are probably my two favorites.

I recently added a Pete Appleton through Weiss Auctions and an Adolfo Luque through a private sale. Both are awaiting PSA authentication, but I expect both to pass which will put me at 219/239. I think completing the set may be possible, but it won't be easy or fast. My want list is so short that I'll be lucky to find one a year that I need. Obviously, I greatly appreciate any leads on any that I do still need. My current want list is:

Want list:

32 Bud Clancy (d. 68)
38 Fred Brickell (d. 61)
54 Ray Kremer (d. 65)
57 Earl Clark (d. 38)

70 Pete Scott (d. 53)
78 Jack Quinn (d. 46)
85 Heine Sand (d. 58)
86 Phil Todt (d. 73)
88 Russell Rollings (d. 64)
90 Jess Petty (d. 71)
105 Bernie Friberg (d. 58)
