Thanks guys...Rob, your way looks like a possibility for me. What are you using to hang them, exactly?

I don't have any of my pennants displayed at present, but I used to rig up a way of displaying some of them vertically, pointed down, using standard wire hangers. Basically, you snip the angled parts of the hanger near the hook, straighten out the wire, slip the wire between the stitching in the colored strip running down the left side of the pennant, and the straight part of the hangar is then bent at angles (not unlike the triangular shape of the original hangar) on either side of the pennant, with the two bent pieces meeting behind the pennant, with that part then being taped or tacked to the wall, pointing down and hidden from view. I don't have an example to photograph and post here, but I got pretty good at making them so that you could barely see any of the wire at either end of the pennant. Hope this description makes sense.
As for using the hanger material, I think there may be some risk that it could react with dye in the pennant to discolor the pennant, but I didn't experience that for the year or two that I employed this method. I'm sure you could adapt this idea, using some other generally rigid but bendable material that would not pose such a risk. |

Thanks again for all the great tips. I did pick up a little wire hanging display this weekend, which I haven't photographed. But I did do the wheel of pennants with some too...here's how that came out.

Are you trying from a computer or cell phone?
I've given up on the latter... but computer images have been attaching with ease. So if you're using your cell or tablet, try it from a computer. |

Hey John - keep me in mind if you ever 1) find more or 2) want to part with your Fresno Giants pennants!

Haha, will do Rob...I'm actually in Fresno, so things turn up from time to time. Generally I try to pick them up, if for no other reason than to feature them on my archive (facebook.com/cencalsports) - but occasionally I've come across duplicate items too. The pennants...the white one I got at the first game I went to, when I was 9. Willie Mays was there and forever soured me on him. :-( The Booster Club pennant, I found a few years back along with a matching bumper sticker, at a random yard sale.

Originally, I threaded the wire through binder clips before I crimped the wire. This worked great, but the "spread" of the binder clips made it impossible to "scrunch" the pennants together. So I had to use wire cutters to remove all (except the two shown) the binder clips and go with butterfly paper clips. These can be put on after the fact. There are two pennants in every poly sleeve.

That was the old house....I'm now in the basement...which is, in ways, better, due to no windows.

Love it, and thanks for the photos. Ceiling is what I'm dealing with right now and it's tricky keeping them up and looking good. This helps a lot.

Rob,
Really liked the way you had your pennants on the ceiling. The picture brings me back a bit when I was younger and had four circles of pennants on the ceiling and one on a wall in my bedroom. What's funny is I had that same ceiling fan in my sons room when be was little 😃 Also, I REALLY like the big flag/banner/pennant (whatever you wanna call it). |
