Life getting you down?
If you ever need a quick pick-me-up, just walk into the nearest sporting goods store, put a Rawling’s mitt right up to your face and happily drift away on the aroma of that ridiculously comforting new leather smell.
Baseball season is almost here!!!!

Here's my bucket: https://www.flickr.com/photos/152396...57685904801706 “I was such a dangerous hitter I even got intentional walks during batting practice.” Casey Stengel Spelling "Yastrzemski" correctly without needing to look it up since the 1980s. Overpaying yesterday is simply underpaying tomorrow. |

I'm glad I'm not the only one that does that.

Unfortunately pack rips today no longer include gum.
There was nothing like the smell of a freshly opened pack that contained gum. Makes me want to go out today and buy some junk wax! RayB

I like the batting cages more than the smell, but the smell is good.

It's hard to beat going to FL (or AZ) and watching spring training practices and then catching a few games. A relative has a connection who works for the Nats' - she got us great tickets to Saturday's game vs. the Astros AND passes to get onto the field to watch batting practice up close - Jayson Werth was being especially fan-friendly, as this pic of the wife and me depicts:

Back in the early Nineties a teammate told me that for a small fee I could send my old Sixties childhood mitt to Rawlings - Brooks Robinson model for my southpaw self. That glove had seen a lot of infield dirt and outfield grass. Came back with most of the work being new stitching, and smelling almost brand new. Not sure how they did that. Maybe out of an aerosol can because I couldn't detect any trace of oiling.
