Thanks for all of the assistance.

It is definitely a single piece of paper, not mounted. The front has a sheen and I can't make out any paper fibers.

No worries Ken - and you definitely win the thread for coolest item!

The writing on the front of the photo looks like fountain pen. Not much help I know as it doesn't provide an end date, but at least it isn't ball point.
