Very cool. I just have types from each year, but haven't explored color variations yet. This will be a great help when I go down that path.

That's really great work, Scott! Thanks for sharing the info and examples. I've often wondered about the color variations. I actually collect the boxer Exhibits more so than baseball.

Great thread.
Here's my run of Chuck Klein's. The only color I know I'm missing is a green/blue tint. I haven't seen any other color tints other than those I own + the green/blue variation. I have always assumed there is a yellow out there, but I don't recall seeing one. Please let me know if you have or have seen any color I don't already have below. I'd be scared to learn that I also need an Orange, a Pink, and the three "Dual Color" variations that Scott listed. I have my Klein run listed as: (1) Black & White, (2) Blue, (3) Green, (4) Sepia, (5) Light Green, (6) Purple, (7) Red, and (8) Brown. I think my scanner was "funky" with the red one as it is a little more red than shown. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It's pretty clear that my two green ones are very different shades of green. Also, there is a pretty clear distinction between the brown and sepia versions. I'm not sure if this throws a wrench in Scott's original post at all. Here's the Green/Blue tint that I don't own: ![]() Would love to see any other color variations of Mr. Klein.

Thanks for posting Scott. This stuff should be in a book filed under education in the library!

Thanks Scott. There should be more info disseminated and consequently popularity in these cards, as they have the best visual image quality of the twenties and thirties!
Best wishes, Larry |

Thanks glad you all liked it.
One thing to note and especially with the 1925-31's PC backed is that the colors do fade (I imagine from exposure to sun/light) so you can find many different shades of the colors, seems to be more pronounced on a few of them blue, red. I do think there are some undiscovered colors (maybe the print machine had another color loaded, paint got blended together, etc). Here is one I am not sure of, looks more aquamarine (not really green or blue) to me but could also be some kind of fade- ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I think Old Cardboard has a run of Hartnett PC back colors.
