Not a pocket watch but a watch to Zach Wheat from Joe DiMaggio.

St. Paul fighter Jimmy Delaney won this at a California boxing tournament (beating Willie Meehan). He sadly passed of blood poisoning at the age of 26 with a record of 37-9-7. He fought Harry Greb 3 times, Gene Tunney twice, and Tommy Loughran twice.

Fantastic pieces guys!
Out of curiosity, what year did DiMaggio give this watch to Wheat? |

I'm not sure. The watch is an Impala. If you look up Joe DiMaggio Impala watch you can find some that have sold. Looks like late 40's to early 50's. One to Stengel sold for $3750 in 2007.

I wonder if this trophy is still around. This kid, Edwin Marshall, wins an essay contest and is pictured on his way to deliver a trophy to Walter Johnson on opening day 1926. He saw one heck of a game!

Great posts guys!!
The presentation watches all shown within this thread are spectacular! Please keep them coming! I hope you all don't mind a hockey item.... This is a cigar humidor in astonishingly high grade that was presented to GH Stead, the long-time secretary-treasurer of the Victoria Hockey Club of Winnipeg. I'm not sure if it was presented upon his retirement from the club, or if it's an anniversary piece, as the Victoria Hockey Club was celebrating their 25th anniversary in 1915. The Victorias are noteworthy as being the first team outside of Montreal to win the Stanley Cup. The club hoisted Lord Stanley's hardware on three occasions, 1896, 1901 and 1902. Oddly enough, I already had the matching 1914-15 Victoria Hockey Club cabinet photo in my collection when I found the humidor. |
