I wouldn't. I'd do something else if I were looking to invest. An I spend a fair amount on baseball cards. In the long run I am hoping just to break even. The enjoyment of the hobby is a considerable dividend.
For me, I would probably take an ownership position in some small local companies, but I have the contacts to do that. There are folks out there with skills and ability to start profitable small ventures that need the seed money. I think we will not see dramatic card increases over the next couple of decade. Of course I have thought that about the stock market since it was at $11,000...so I am often wrong. |

Thinking mays 51 bowman 52 topps or mantle 52 obviously on the mays psa 7 or 8 mantle would need to be 5 or 6 and only 52 or poss 53

51-52 bowman mantles can still be found at reasonable prices if you are patient but I'd avoid dropping 25-50 right now on a single card. Just my 2 cents.

Think 51 -52 Mays investment might be better than mantle or will mantle always be 13x mays? If I have a diversified portfolio but want one high value card like this would you go with a mantle over mays?

I would say Mays as well but I would say 51,52,53. 53 is a a short print and shows him fielding . Mantle has room to grow but not as much as Mays . Willie
Was a icon on both coast and is still alive .

I'll help you with both, $50,000 for my Mantle and $25,000 for my Mays.
![]() All kidding aside, I think Mantle, (if any card is going to increase substantially), it will be him as his popularity never seems to wane. But, besides those two, there are many cards/collectables out there that have the potential to increase exponentially for the next decade, but one must figure that out themselves to the best of their ability and roll the dice. Good luck. ![]()
