Finished a few sets so far this year....50, 52 and 55 Bowman. Started on 33 Goudey as well as 40 and 41 Playball sets....about 40% along with each of the 3.
Mainly focused on finishing my 52 Topps Set ... http://www.psacard.com/psasetregistr...set.aspx?s=100 Still working on 51, 53, & 54 Bowman sets(need approx. a dozen between the 3 sets), 18 cards short on 63 Post, 8 short on 68 MB Win a Card (baseball and FB). In addition, still working on 65-80 OPC sets....30% on 65-68, 69 complete, 80% on 70-72, 95% on 73, 75, 76, and complete with 77-80 (0 on 74s). None of these sets are priorities, just pickup cards when they are a bargain. Finished 53-present Topps, 61, 62 Post sets, 60/61 Fleer sets |

I too enjoyed reading about everyone's progress.
My sweet spot for collecting is 1970's and 80's. I have an ungraded run of Topps baseball complete from 1974-1986, Topps football from 1978-1981 and 1984-1987, Topps basketball 1977, and Topps hockey 1971. Most of these sets are NM or better on average. I also have a completely graded 1975 Mini set in NM-MT+ as well as an ungraded set in EX-MT condition on average. The Mini's are my favorite. I'm currently working on an ungraded 1973 Topps baseball set which is 89% complete in about EX condition and a graded 1978 Topps basketball in Mint condition which is 68 percent complete. I'm also working on an ungraded 1971 Topps baseball set, which I'm completing by series. I have completed series 1 and 2 and will be starting series 3 soon. I've picked up most of the stars in the set, including the high numbers, all for less than $20 apiece. I think the only two stars I have left are the Yaz and Aparicio. I'm building the 1971 set without much regard to condition except that I want the cards to be readable, no writing, and not warped. Minor creases and wrinkles are accepted as are rounded corners and worn edges. I don't care much for scuffing of the surface. The average grade is VG/VG-EX. Good luck to all building your sets! I am about half way there (200) but lack too many high priced cards to likely ever complete my set? Still enjoy picking up what I can here and there though. ![]()

Thanks to a trade and purchase of 2 cards each from 2 fellow members. I am down to needing 18 cards in my 55 Bowman set. I am building it with only purchases and trades from fellow members so it has taken a while but has been a very fun experience.

This is a very good idea for a thread. I must have missed it.
Topps set collecting is my secondary focus. I am primarily a Cardinals team set collector, but after that, I collect complete Topps sets (base and update/traded). Having started probably 10 or 12 years ago, since it is a secondary focus for me, I have not gotten as far down as I would like, but I am making progress. I currently have Topps sets from 2016 down to 1967. I am currently working on 1966. With 1966, I am about 90% complete and hope to complete the set in a few weeks. For older sets, I don't worry so much about condition. I am all about completion and quantity over quality. It saves a bunch of money doing it that way. I try to get my older sets in presentable low to mid grade. My 1970 sets on up are pretty nice, but 1969 on down is starting to get more lower grade. |

I've begun a raw 58T set and may look to leverage that idea. RayB

I'm working on three sets right now. I strive for near mint or higher on all my sets but ex-mint sneaks in here and there. Stars and other toughies I try to get graded 7 or higher. I need to increase my insurance coverage. Heh.
1957 - 45.33% << favorite dream set from childhood 1960 - 93.88% << horizontal happiness 1965 - 90.97% << love to hate this issue 1966 - 100% << birth year - high number hell 1971 - 100% << nightmare finally over 1972 - 100% << boom chicky wow wow 1975 minis - 100% << taste the rainbow Of course, I need the Mantles for 57, 60, and 65. I'm picky and cheap. ![]() Scott P.S. Working on Mars Attacks ex-mint or higher and lord please help me find a nm/mt 1969 Planet of the Apes #1 to complete my Dad's set. Will pay stupid money. |
