That's an Italian beef with gardinara which, if you add motzarella and hold the gardinara and have the bread soaking wet, that might be the best sandwich ever.

And I am a huge fan of thick or thin pizza....just depends on my mood.

If you've never tried it I strongly recommend giving it a shot. Chicago deep dish is the best pizza I've ever had. There are plenty of great places in Chicago but you can't go wrong with Giordano's.

They also make a great thin crust pizza.

....and if you stuff it with spinich...ooolala!! It may be an acquired taste but..look what it did for Popeye! If National visitors want to do it right (in my humble opinion) they could travel about 15 min. south on River Road (Rt.45) to Irving Park Road and turn left (East) to 5927 West Irving Park Rd. to a very old Giordano's location in an old Italian neighborhood. A very good place to catch the acquired taste. I would also like suggest to visitors to try Super Dawg on Milwaukee Ave. for the Dog of the midwest ( Hint..Don't ask for ketchup) no slight intended to Nathans for the east coast crowd.

Default Net54 dinner?

Net 54 dinner, Leon? The one in Chicago in 2015 was terrific--thanks for giving so much back to the hobby!

Best always,

Larry

Think of it as savory pie and eat it with a fork and knife. You need to make the mental disconnect. Once I did that, I was able to enjoy both for what they are, because no, it's not pizza.

Hopefully Leon says I remember this discussion correctly but he mentioned at my show yesterday as long as he gets the corporate sponsorship for the dinner, he is looking forward to having the Net 54 dinner in 2017 in Chicago.

Leon, if I misspoke or misunderstood what you said please delete this message

Rich

The little 2 floor strip plaza chinatown thats a train stop has the best chineese food i ever had. Many great restaurants that have all the ethnic variations. I heard san francisco is the best ever but i would feel safe calling chicago's version as a number 2 as far as the united states i concerned
