SGC autograph authenticated cases have always been red. There is no conspiracy.

It simply means they have authenticated the signature and it is not just a card grade.

Its extremely important to have the separate colors as people were scamming buyers with PSA authentic grades with fake sigs for years. They would put a fake sig on a real card and ask for an auth grade. Unknowledgable buyers would think the auth grade meant the sig was real, when it really just meant it was a real card with a fake sig. Anyone buying an auth card without a flip designating the sig as well is a rube.

PSA is also notorious for slabbing cards with grades with fake sigs. They will tell you that they only were paid to grade the card and not the sig so the guarantee for the sig falls on the manufacturer. Here is an example of a fake sig

The best part of that excuse is that it's a fake card as well, but that's psa for you. The only thing real about this is the mistake psa made putting it in a case.

SGC authenticated signed cards featured the same style flip as the normal grading service for almost a decade and the red flip has barely been around two years. They began authenticating w/JSA in 2004-2005 and used the top two styles during that time frame. The partnership dissolved in 2012 and JSA aligned with Beckett. In 2013 SGC announced their own authentication service and in 2014 rebranded with the red auto flip (when they changed the regular flip style and collectors rioted.)

Personally I hate the Red the flips... A fair chunk of my signed 58 set is in old green flips and I'd love to be able to collect it that way. I love SGC but the red with the gaskets looks ugly IMO.

I more recently leaned toward autos due to my sons influence so the red sgcs and blue psas stick out to me. I really love the different colors as they show at a glance the certification. I think it is necessary to help fight scammers.

I will admit though those redesigned sgc flips looked terrible and so bad I would almost walk away from a card with one. An absolute disaster. I did have two cards with those redesigned flips and I broke them out as they looked so cheap and fake it seemed like they were in a PRO Grading case in my collection.

Had to wait to get back home to upload and save images. Was quite happy with items I was able to find. Did see very many overpriced items, especially the high-graded 50s, 60s and 70s rookies and stars. This is all more my speed.

Don't I know it Todd. I carry around about 25% of the pages out of the SCD catalog to use for want lists and cross items off as I finds them. I may not finish sets off quickly but, I always seem to be able to find something I need, no matter where I go. Plus, I don't worry as much about grading and condition and actually prefer "raw" cards, if I can find them. This National turned out to be pretty good for me.
