If he actually mailed it in without talking to anyone first I think someone would give him a call and tell him to keep the card as is. I guess I should have voted other, as I don't think they would reholder it at all.

Would love to hear Joe Orlando's answer, although he wasn't aboard when Wags got graded.

Default First Mistake

Since this trimmed T206 was the first card graded by PSA that would make it their first mistake.

I never understood the logic if they could make a mistake on this million dollar card, what's to say they couldn't incorrectly grade any other submission?

Not a fan of graded cards regardless of the slabber.

If it's trimmed it should be Authentic. It should be no different than any other card.

I think they would give it an AUTH if he insisted on having it reholdered.

Follow up question: If that did happen, how much would the world famous PSA 8 Gretzky-McNall PSA A Wagner then fetch at auction?

So using a simple proration theory, based on a small sample size of 1, that means (as of this moment), there are 26,699,867 authentication / grading mistakes out there.

Why exactly would it matter if that Wagner is inside a piece of plastic that has "the new slab and hologram on the flip" from the people who get paid for the (often wrong) opinions?

I dont work at PSA, but I have to believe there is no way in the world they would ever label it as authentic.

At this point, it would have to be graded as a Mint version of the Mastro/Gretzky Trimmed-But-Graded-An-8 T-206 Wagner, which is a category unto itself.
