1970s Bats
I think you will find that the traditional "Black Bats" were produced for the 1972-74 Oakland A's and the 1975-1976 Cincinnati Reds. The red color Cincinnati bats were produced in 1970,1972,1973,1975,1976, and 1979 and provided to season ticket holders (typically with a small Christmas card from Bob Howsam and later Dick Wagner).
The green Oakland A's bats were produced under similar circumstances, as fan items. In both cases, they (A's green & Reds red) are separate from the "Black Bats" and not replacements for them. Dave Grob
