Storage/Display PC Methods?

I have gone back and forth on storage methods (binders vs. toploaders) for years for my PC. I have finally landed (hopefully) on keeping my sets in binders. My player collections are in penny sleeves/toploaders in super vault boxes.

I enjoy looking at my cards so the main thing for me is to find a method that provides protection while allowing me to look at them easily. This is the primary reason I moved my sets too binders. They are too cumbersome in toploaders. The player collections are easier to manage in sleeves/toploaders.

Now say I get a cabinet with multiple shelves to display cards. For example, with my Thome PC, would you put the Thome base in binders while displaying the higher end cards? Or would you keep the Thome base in penny sleeves/top loaders stored in a box?

I think everyone has to decide what works best for them, but I don't display my cards individually. Perhaps I am a little too cautious, but I worry about light fading them. Of course, if you store them in a room w/o natural light or have a case with UV protection, that should be fine. Ultimately, it comes down to what you enjoy. I store my binders flat instead of upright. I think that keeps the pages from sagging and possibly bending cards.

Absolutely. I'm getting ready to move out of my parents' home, and into an apartment with my girlfriend. Looking at 2 BR apartments, so the spare bedroom would be used as a dual office for both of us, which we have talked about splitting down the middle and decorating our respective side. That's where I want to get the vertical cabinet. As far as the fading goes, if I put the cabinet on the same wall as the window, facing AWAY from the window, would the fading still take place?

The horizontal binder idea vs. vertical is a good tip I didn't think about.

There are probably others here that have more experience with me re: displays, but I think that if there is a window in the room you will have the potential for fading. I think some of the holders (ex. Ultra Pro One Touch) have UV protection for up to 5 years.

I have a lot of things on display in my office, and the ones I worry about fading on I merely made color copies of and put them in a frame.

They look just as nice as the actual item
