Babe Ruth Ticket and program
Wow Tony! Great pickup. To obtain either one would be exciting...to get both together is awesome. Congrats!

Giants mascot
Dewey - I love the enthusiasm evident on the face and body language of Giants mascot. Quite a contrast to the other young fellow!

Got this cool photo of University of Maine coach Wilkie Clark; circa 1920's. Looks original, and was clearly pasted into a scrapbook before I got it.

Before he was the coach of UMaine, Clark played all over the minors. In 1906, he played for the Scranton Miners, hitting .262. A good average, but not as good as .336, belonging to their leading hitter, Archibald "Moonlight" Graham.

Nice photo and great addition to your UMaine collection.

That team photo is actually from spring training of 1905. The best indication is Heinie Peitz, third from the left in the middle row. Players used to wear their uniforms from the previous season during spring training, and Peitz is wearing his Cincinnati uniform from 1904. He only played for Pittsburg in 1905 and 1906. Claude Ritchey is second from the left in the bottom row and Ginger Beaumont is on the far right in the bottom row; they were traded away from the Pirates in December, 1906. Patsy Flaherty is on the far left in the bottom row; he was with the team in 1904 and 1905 but was probably with Columbus during spring training of 1906. Honus Wagner is missing because he hated spring training.

It's a great photo!

We are going to be visiting both the U Maine main campus as well as U Maine Farmington in early August. One of my twin daughters is very interested in both.

Default Hot July

I have been waiting for a gamer from my favorite current Yankee, Brett Gardner. I finally got my chance last week when I made a deal for this one.
From the photo match, it appears that he used it to hit an inside the park home run. Even cooler is that the night before, he hit a grand slam, becoming the only MLB player to hit a GS and an ITPHR in back to back games (I think). So it is quite possible he used this bat for both (I think). I will have to do some more research before I call it though.
In any event, I am stoked to finally have my Gardner gamer!
