CLOSED: 1972 Topps Trade/Reverse Auction, Day 17

[HercDriver]

OK, after a couple successful auctions, let's try it again. I'm going to list a bunch of 1972 Topps cards up for auction. However, I don't take cash...you can only bid with a scan of a card in trade. Since I collect T205 and T206 Sovereigns, those bids will tend to get higher weighting in case of multiple bids on the same day. If there are no bids at the end of the day (10PM Mountain Time), I'll add some more cards for the next day. The bids must be pre-WWII cards (no strip cards), but condition doesn't matter to me. I reserve the right to not accept a bid for whatever reason, but I'm generally not too picky. Shipping is on me, and you pay to pop yours in an envelope. Questions?

I always loved those trophies, and wondered if Topps actually gave those guys something! Parsons piled up a lot of innings in his rookie year, finishing 2nd to Chris Chambliss in ROY voting. He sort of tailspinned after that, and was gone a couple years later. I hope he still has his trophy to remember!

OK, here's a few more for Day 4! Those IA cards are the best...loved those as a kid! I didn't start buying cards until 1974, but the older boys had these wickedly cool, colorful 72s with those awesome, horizontal action cards. How could they have such enticing cads as those, then throw in those horrible Boyhood Photos? I'm surprised any kid kept those.

One of my least favorite things was guy wearing what looked like garbage bags under their jerseys...I guess UnderArmour was years away in 1972!

That picture is not my actual card, but the hat is so bad, that I had to include it. I never knew that Lonborg became a dentist after retiring... so there you go. Also, he's the player in the picture behind the bar in Cheers that is supposed to be Sam Malone. Good stuff!!

Four All-Star caliber guys in today's group! Kessinger was a personal favorite of mine, being a Cub fan. He was the batter in the "black cat" episode, and then later ended up managing on the South Side, where he was in the dugout on Disco Demolition Night. I think he locked the boys in the locker room when the riot broke out. Anyway, he was always remembered as the last guy left from those late sixties Cubs teams that featured four HOFers and never won.
