If you know autographs, you can sometimes (if someone else doesn't beat you to it) can some great deals on Mantle, DiMaggio, Mays, Williams, etc. autographs.
But, if you don't know autographs, Ebay, in my opinion, is the most dangerous place to look for and buy autographs. Also, in my opinion, Ebay condones the listing and selling of forgeries by doing absolutely nothing about them except to profit from the sales of forgeries. One seller (Ebay seller Rbisportsinc) sold close to $20,000 in GFA-certed (Stephen Rocchi) Muhammad Ali forgeries 72 hours after Ali's passing. Despicable.
