June pickups
I was recently able to pick up a couple of nice vintage signed items that will be a nice fit for my no-hitter collection:
From the net54 BST, 1938 vintage signed snapshot of Johnny "Double No-Hit" Vander Meer. The one year uniform style makes it easy to narrow down the year it was taken. FWIW, I suspect that this photo was possibly taken on the Reds road trip to Pittsburgh in early July, 1938, just after Vander Meer hurled his back-to-back no-hitters in June of '38. From eBay, a vintage signed Rex Barney 1949 Bowman baseball card. On September 9, 1948 Rex Barney no-hit the visiting NY Giants 2-0. Love adding these fountain pen sigs to my personal collection!
