Default Tidbit...

PSA population report list the PX7 Domino Discs under the year 1909 only, not 1909-12 like they do other multiple year sets.

And the Home/Visiting has the highest pop of any disc in PSA 8 - 6 copies. Now that doesn't mean much when you consider all that exist in any grade, raw or graded.

very nice. I love this set. I will post some pictures later. Much harder to find than the sweet caporal pins

Default Disc update

It’s been 5 years since the last post in this thread but I wanted to update my previous posts based on my experiences in collecting this set. Most (if not all) of the discs have a ‘thin faced’ variation which I much tougher to find than the ‘regular’ pose. The prices for these seem to bear this out. I have a complete set now with about 75 of the thin faced variations.
A true master set of these discs would be nearly impossible with all the pose and color variations but I’m slugging along.
If anyone has a Moran with Cubs or an Art Wilson (as opposed to Owen Wilson) with Giants for trade or sale please let me know.
Years ago I posted that I thought the generic two sided home/visitors team disc was the toughest but I no longer feel that to be the case. Some of the ‘common player’ thin faced variations are much tougher.
Good luck if you are collecting the set.

Bob, congrats on completing the basic PX7 set! And, I wish you great success as you work on a master set.

Do you know if each player should be findable in both the regular-face and thin-face variations in all 4 background colors - i.e., 8 different discs for each player? Actually, the only player I'm really interested in is WaJo.

Thanks V al I’m just going for a regular and thin face of each player regardless of color. I wonder if all players have a thin face variation, it’s been speculated but to my knowledge, never proven.
You could be right about 8 of each player. That would be a life long search lol.

Hi Tbob, I have confirmed at least 115 thin-faced versions (I still have some scans to review), and really can think of no reason why the others won't surface if they have not already just evaded my radar. BTW, didn't I sell you the Art Wilson some years back?

Val, there should be nine front-back color combinations for each player. There are no brown backs, and no brown thin faced subjects.

So each player should be found with:
red full face/red back; blueFF/blue back; greenFF/green back; Brown FF w/red, blue or green back
red thin face/red back; blueTF/blue back and greenTF/green back.

Of course if you are patient enough to locate all nine front-back combos for each player (1161 disks), then you can try and get the different domino pip combos on the backs.
