Top o' the morning to ya, friend Mike. Neat T209-2 but am having a hard time figuring out the dynamics of the tag with the glove and ball hovering like that.

Well, David, it always struck me as a bit odd, too, since I doubt Pressley could have stretched his arm underneath Pritchard to re-emerge on the other side. Plastic Man was 30+ years from being introduced. I'm afraid it's the old "pose-the-glove-and-ball-next-to-the-players" ruse to make the photo seem like a real tag.

But, these guys were Class C minor leaguers so anything was possible!

Cheers,
Mike

Damn David that's the best 14' Mathewson "2" I've ever seen!

Thanks, AJ. That's what I thought too so a couple of years ago I took it to SGC's booth at the National and pleaded that it was worthy of a bump. They concurred. It is now holdered in a 35/2.5 slab. The wrinkle from his cap to his elbow (actually a bit worse in hand) probably drives the grade but even without that it will never be a blazer. Still love it to death.

Is this card the classic horizontal....or what ?

76 years ago today (April 23, 1940), Pee Wee Reese played in his first Major League game.
