So the card you graded was this year. The hologram is on the front, and the cert # is on the back. That's just a terrible grade for that card. Both top corners have spider creases, and then the whole top of the card looks like it has a crease, but is probably a shadow. Surface is also pretty scraped up. I would have guessed a 2.

Corners show edge wear, but not the creasing that the card in the OP does.
Wow!

I never would have guessed the card I posted was a recent graded card.

But, like what has been mentioned here numerous times, there are a lot of variables, such as the grader, the mood of the grader, the time of the day, etc, etc, etc.
I was going to send my cards in, or I was at least thinking about it, but I have been told, based on reviews of peeps looking at my cards/scans, that it likely isn't worth it as they didn't think my cards would grade any higher than a 2 with some, (very few) getting a 3.

I am no grader, obviously, but based on that one I posted, I would say, if mine were graded by the same guy on the same day, some of mine "should" at least get a 5 or 6 and maybe a rare few receiving 7's?

Anyways, I appreciate the info about the grading time frames. That is the purpose of this post, but I also learned, even more so, to judge the card not the slab/grade it comes in.

Irv,
Yours look more on the 3.5-5 level IMO, even currently, presuming the backs are better than 90/10 centering. And I would say the Mays and Jackie cards are worth grading no matter what.

That was more like I was thinking as well, but thought higher, based on that card I posted and others I have seen that have also been recently/newly graded.

I also want to send in my Mantle, but, like I have mentioned a few times, I am leery about sending them through the mail and not to thrilled about the price/cost of getting them graded.

I am not sure the total cost for those 3 cards, and although it is likely money in the bank or money well spent, I still don't think it will be cheap?

I don't think you need the Mantle graded, because it is definitely a POOR 1. And the people buying it will be able to see it in person, most likely. And I think the minimum cost to grade a '52 Mantle is $700.

The other ones are most likely worth it.

That is what I believe as well. I am just afraid, based on what PSA determines my Mays and Robinson are worth, will also charge me $700.00 a piece for those too?

I do a have few others that I'd like, despite what they grade at, to get slabbed as well.

My Nuxall, Minoso, Pee Wee Reese, Leo Durocher, to name a few.

If PSA upgrades you to $700 a card because your graded cards are now worth $10K, isn't that a worthy tradeoff? ;-)

That is what I mentioned above but it is still a lot of money, especially in my wife's eyes. LOL.

Is $10,000 the threshold where the $700 dollar fee kicks in?
Guess I should read up more.
