After all this time I assumed this thread was in response to the 16 Just So Tobacco cards that walked into the Flair Polos Show last month, but I’m really only active on the auto side of the board. Peter, my brother in-law, called me just after they came by his table asking what a ball park figure would be for the set as he’s more of a 50s-70s dealer. Really I hadn’t a clue and just quoted “A lot”. I wish I were there to see the look on some faces as they came out, as I understand the majority didn’t realize the significance of the set until told. Luckily he (my brother in-law) was able to snap a couple photos when the young couple that previously owned them stopped by his setup. From what I understand someone made a call to KO and within a half hour he brokered a deal for the Young and Ewing. One more Hall of Famer was moved rather quickly as well. Only then did the major auction house on site sniff out what the commotion was about and supposedly the rest consigned to the next auction. Love stories like this as it keeps the magic of those dealer shows alive and well. Somebody here have an estimate (since Peter was pretty much the first on hand to see the cards he’s considering making a run at one) as to what one of the commons might hammer at?
