Back when I was getting autographs, Scott Erickson turned us down in the funniest way I ever saw. He walked out of the Kingdome toward the team bus holding a Snapple in one hand and the cap of the Snapple in the other hand. "Sorry guy, my hands are full."

This has been one of the most entertaining threads I have read in my two years hanging around Net54. A kid learns a real lesson, baked goods are bandied about, Don West impersonations thrown in, late 20th century busts remembered. Thanks to all for the laughs.

Agreed, and I was a big fan of his but my only point was that his cards are worthless today. I remember opening packs of 1991(?) leaf searching for Olerud, Thomas, Sosa etc..

Me too, and I understood what you were talking about. I purchased many 90-91 UD cards back then just for the sake of collecting and hoping that maybe someday the cards would be valuable, but like you, most are practically worthless nowadays.

It really hit home when my entire childhood collection drove away in the back of a pickup truck, and I was starting at $800 thinking "this is my retirement?".

Default 50000

I have 50,000 plus cards in my basement from my childhood and I don't think there is much hope of realizing $800 for them. But there is literally no price to be put on how much fun I had with those cards.
