Mike, though Mr. Waddell is well-loved now, it appears that at one time in the past he was very well-hated.

I also wanted to add this card. I pulled this from a wax pack in 1972. 9 years old then.

Anyway, after December 31 happened, it came off the wall (see the tape) and into a cigar box, with marbles and such. It remains my favorite card from my childhood.

Not sure that is trimming, could be the first Die-Cut prototype.

EDIT: I think I could pretty much post my entire pre-war collection in this thread.
