I would have happily bought that card and I was proven wrong this time on BVG, but I still believe they are more strict on prewar than the others.

There must be something in person I just am not seeing in the scans as that 1.5 seems way low without paper loss on that card!

There has rarely been a better example of buy the card not the holder.

I bought the card and not the holder. In fact this one has never been graded. I don't plan to have it graded three times, but your speculation might be interesting.

I would guess a 3-4 on that Matty card....the top right corner looks to have a wee bit of creasing and/or paper loss...

You have a great looking Matty that is definitely better than the grade. It sure did have quite a journey! Thanks for sharing and letting us take part in the grading aspect.
