5'7" 170 lb. BoSox hurler George "Rube" Foster made history on June 21, 1916 when he hurled the first ever no-hitter at historic Fenway Park against the visiting Yankees, defeating them 2-0.
Rube's pitching teammates included a young Babe Ruth (a LHP at the time), Ernie Shore of the Ruth/Shore imperfect perfect game, HB "Dutch" Leonard and Smoky Joe Wood. Ironically, every one of these Boston Red Sox hurlers would make history by pitching a no-hitter while in Boston. Because of George Foster's death date (1976) his signature is somewhat scarce in of itself. A signed Christmas card is scarce indeed. I'm happy to add his to my collection of no-hit pitcher Christmas cards. Last edited by Scott Garner; 02-18-2016 at 12:42 PM. |
