Believe it or not, he just came in second in a 2 million dollar horse race.
Eddie O brought the Cup to the track in 1994.

I was visiting my uncle in the New York area and he knew I was a huge baseball fan and more specifically the Cubs. Uncle knew someone that had connections at Ebbets Field and as luck would have it the Cubs were in town. This man knew Chuck Tanner who at that time was a Cub so this man calls Chuck over during BP and Chuck gives me a ball and I get a picture with him. After that we were able to gain access to the tunnel which led to the team clubhouses where we waited and had the ball autographed by both teams as they walked by (Campy is on the ball. One of the last games he played sadly). In addition I had a chance to have my picture taken with both Duke and PeeWee as well as four members of the Cubs team. My only disappointment was that my hero Mr. Cub Ernie Banks did not come by. After the pictures were developed this same friend took these two pictures back to Ebbets to have them autographed. Great memories.

I worked in the art department on a couple Lucha Libre films with Mil Mascaras. I also had such memorable roles as "Aztec Zombie", "Creature" and "Policeman"... lol

I just took the creature mask off after a long night of shooting...

We were on vacation about 10 years ago and saw Pete signing autos. I got there towards the end of the day so no one else was around. Got time for a chat and some photos.

I'll see your former owners of the LA Kiss, and raise you the owner of the National Wrestling Alliance.

Also Peter Griffin, who played football for the New England Patriots and the London Silly Nannies, coached Quahog's minor league baseball team, and had a very brief stint as pro wrestler.

Here is a picture with not just a sports figure but my all time favorite sports hero. The first photo was taken when when went to one of Harmon's signings in Sioux Falls, South Dakota some 25 years ago. The kids are my two oldest kids and of course they are all grown up now. The second photo is the photograph I had him sign. He was interested in the photograph and asked me what I did for living? When I told him I was a teacher/coach he asked if we wanted to sit down afterwards at the concession area for a coffee . Who does that, what a great person!!

We talked about the photo and he asked me if I knew who he was shaking hands with at the time and I responded, Bobby Allison, I believe. He responded that is correct. He asked me where I got the photo, since has remembered the moment but had never seen the photo. I told him I purchased it online and gave him the info. I offered the photo to him to have but he said, No! hang it up in your wall, so it has been there even since. He asked what I taught and coached and we visited for 15 to 20 minutes. This is certainly the high point of my collecting. He was the most generous, nice man and left and endless impression on both me and my kids. The Killer was not a killer in person but more of a Harmless Harmon who was just a great role model.

At the age of 13, I got to visit Cooperstown for the 1973 inauguration of Harry Hooper, Early Wynn, Sandy Koufax, Buck Leonard and Yogi Berra. The all signed a baseball for me, but I played with it to the point that all of the signatures got super faded. Then I tried to write over them with my Bic ball point pen! Geesh, what a dummy!

Rob,

You know the old saying, "If I only knew then, what I know now." But what a great experience and memory at 13.

My partners and I used to run card shows in the suburban Chicago area in the 80's and 90's and with each show we would bring in a local athlete to sign free autographs. I had been in touch with Heisman trophy winner Johnny Lattner and he agreed to be our guest one fall Sunday afternoon. I knew the pre-arranged time was getting close for his signing and was on the lookout for Mr. Lattner when I heard may name called out from across the center of the mall. I turned to see Mr. Lattner pushing a shopping cart which I thought was a bit odd. As I got closer I stopped in my tracks and realized that the reason he was pushing a shopping cart was because the Heisman was sitting in it. I stood dumbfounded just staring at the trophy and Mr. Lattner casually mentioned to me that he thought people would like to see it so he brough the Heisman with him. We had never discussed this possibility but yet, there it was...THE Heisman.

To say this was a huge hit with all those who were attending would be an understatement.

I am the big guy on the right who stupidly never got a picture of myself holding this 45 pound sculpture but it was so very cool to see and hold it in person.

Great story.

And some great pictures and stories otherwise, too! Thanks for sharing...

I once saw Tyson but didn't say anything to him. Not sure that counts.

great picture of you and the Duke! my father (born 1947) tells a story about being told to 'settle down' on the NYC subway by Duke in the late 1950s. (trolley stopped in '48). while there is no picture, yours will suffice!
