Take the cards out of the screwdown holders! They can only damage your cards, either through compression or moisture damage.

I read that many threads ago and inquired about new holders, which I have yet to purchase, so it is in progress.

After originally reading about them and the damage they can do, I panicked and got them out of my safety deposit box. Thankfully, 20 yrs ago when I received them, I didn't screw them down too tight as the cards did not stick nor looked damaged.
I did put both cards back in the cubes, and likely screwed them down less than what I originally did, until I get some better holders.
I am not doubting cubes can cause damage, although I have never seen an example here, but these cards have always been stored in a dark place with not a lot of humidity/temperature fluctuations.

Forgot to mention in my original reply that these cubes were placed on their side, not placed flat, so that may have something to do with why my cards weren't stuck or damaged?

I can understand, that laying them flat, and having the weight of the slab pressing down on them over time could cause damage.

I use a penny sleeve and tighten using sanity and I think it works fine. I often cut a decorative mat as well.

I posted a while ago about what is available other than these cubes and was given some good info.
Heading out today to a couple local shops to see if they carry them?

The holder is almost like a slab, but is screwed down with one screw at the top which puts no pressure on the card, it just holds the holder together.
