New FB Acquisitions

Another hit to my 1952 Bowman Small set described as a Poor condition filler (my kind of card)! I picked it up on eBay along with the Tarkenton RC, but Y.A. went for a little "bath" LOL! Tossed Y.A. in the kitchen sink, wiped him off with a dish rag, then dried him out between paper towels (your typical soak). Before pic on the left, after pic on the right with no improvement on the reverse. I paid 5.8% NM value for this card. I didn't notice the card was trimmed or just suffered from some weird factory cut until after Y.A. got cleaned up. Also the crease in the upper left is not noticed until after all the dirt was washed off. I thought the stain on the pennant was gum or wax but it wouldn't rub off and ended up being more dirt.

Never washed a card before. That did clean up pretty well.

I haven't been on the boards too much in the past few weeks. It was nice to get back to looking through threads and see all these pickups from everyone that I hadn't seen before.

I picked this card up a month ago at one of our local shows from Matt. I posted about it on my blog, but apparently forgot to show it in here.

The Large version of this is the #3 card on my "want" list. I didn't have this one either and was so excited to get it.

I also picked up the Kinnick for my All-American set. I posted it in that thread. Matt told me that he'd had it since he was young, but had picked up an upgrade. I really like knowing a little history about the particular card. It was actually mentioned a few posts ago about how some kid in the 50s probably had the card. I've thought quite often lately that it would be really cool if the cards could talk. Where have they been? How did they get into the shape that they are in?

I did pick up three other commons from Matt, nothing really worth posting, though. Just cards for my WVU collection. If you're interested, you can read the post here.

I received this card recently. thought i'd share it.. my first high number card for my '72 set donated by an awesome net54'er(sp?).. only 87? more to go.

I've been lurking on the main forum page reading about the secret santa deal they do every year.. sounds like fun. Have you guys gotten involved in that?
