Jeff: great card. Seeing all these nice ones I'd love to have is like torture, LOL.
right I wasn't going to look up the market value..just put a + over the 20k...I really meant 20k to a million...just more than the current bid price at the time .

You might as well say the top price you will pay for the card for the grade....if the person has the card he will sell it to you and if someone knows someone that may have the card they get their own finders fee if you know what I mean...

offering 300 over market for a card in a private collection isn't going to happen for a card in the 1000s...I assuming you know all the auctions so the only way a finder fee applies is with a card in a private collection who could list the card at auction for market price any time they want...heck the 300 wont even cover the buyers premium for someone selling it at auction.....

Jake, appreciate the help and thanks for the opinion, but I don't put a number out without seeing a card; I believe each and every card is unique, and I will pay a lot more for one card than another in the same grade, depending on the card's eye appeal.

The $300 is for anyone who helps me find the card, be it one owned by a friend of theirs, one they find in a local shop, one at an AH with which I am currently unfamiliar, etc. To be clear, it is not me saying to an owner, "Let me pay you VCP average, and by the way here's an extra $300, deal?"

If an owner contacts me directly and has a card I want, he will see right away from my opening offer that I am a serious buyer, happy to pay a top of the market or even record price, and ideally we'll come to an agreement that satisfies us both.

so which AHs are you familiar with....that way no confusion if someone finds you a card at an AH and you say 'oh I am familiar with that one'

also didn't say anything about VCP average just asked you the most you would be willing to pay for a grade.best case scenario so people will know the upper limits which may help pry a card out of someones collection..but of course you not held to that amount, you would have to see the card of course and take it from there offer wise
