Frame folders like that was a standard family photo style in the early 1900s. I have one of my grandmother. As noted, not period to the player image. My guess is someone simply stuck the photo in the frame folder.
I don't think the Vermont photos were sepia like that. A question is if the photo itself is original. Last edited by drcy; 11-15-2015 at 03:38 PM. |

If it's a modern reprint stuck in an old frame, very little.
Original 1889 photos would be affixed to a carboard mount. The early 1900s photos housed in those frames are usually loose paper prints slipped in. If it's a loose paper print slipped in, I would guess it's a modern reprint. If it's a modern reprint it will likely have color dot print pattern under magnification. |
