Looking beyond the sheer fact that many of those rookie cards (especially in low-grade condition) can be had for under $25.00 on eBay, I can't believe that they expect to sell that many of those at $100 a pop with such limited information and no scans of the high-dollar cards.

I wouldn't be so sure they don't quickly sell out. This is basically the same thing these breakers do nowadays when they sell boxes and cases of cards. It is just another form of legalized gambling. I understand that these boxes will probably include 5,000+ Rollie Fingers rookie cards but, there is going to be at least one '52 Mantle, and during the National I came across one dealing selling a '52 Topps Mantle graded PSA 1, that had an actual, sizable hole punched in it. When I asked how much, he didn't flinch in responding - $12,000 firm! And right there is the reason a ton of people will spend $99 on the chance to get at least this one rookie card.

I haven't dipped my toe in the area yet but I really like the set breaker deals that are on the board every now and then. There are only so many cards in the set, you see photos of the actual cards being dispersed, and you have a reasonable shot at landing a star card.

Yes. He was finally elected by the Veterans' Committee a couple of years ago, not long after he died.

If there was actually a 1 in whatever chance to get the big hit out of these products than it would be worth the gamble for many, including myself. The big question I always have is how do I know I actually have a shot to pull the 52 Mantle? Even if it really was inserted into a box, how do we know that didn't end up with the guy putting this together, or his good friend?

Does anyone know who runs this company? How can they assure that this is a random thing and that cousin Eddie isn't going to be the lucky winner of the 52 Mantle?

Better question is whether or not there is a Mantle. I'd love to see a photo.
