As Larry stated, the Goudey Premium is much rarer than the Play Ball rookie card but is a premium and not a card so won't carry rookie card status. That will always keep it behind the Play Ball in terms of desirability (if not price) in my opinion.
BTW the Doerr and Feller are both '37's and rookies, although not technically cards, so they don't command the rookie card designation. Since these premiums are about the size of standard postcards, a very convincing argument could be made for considering them as cards and thus eligible for rookie card status. Phil - Is the 1941 Double Play considered Feller's Rookie Card? I have both the '37 and the Double Play, but just sold my '48 Bowman...of course, there is always the Leaf issue too...so, which is the real RC?

Raymond:
If you look past the R314, there were a couple of other '37 issues for Feller, OPC & 4-on-1 Exhibit, both would be considered rookie cards as the vast majority of collectors now view the '20's & '30's Exhibits as "cards". Thus, anything after 1937 would not be considered rookie cards, such as the 1938 Goudey Heads-Up card. Last edited by bcbgcbrcb; 07-30-2015 at 05:07 AM. |

Steve is that list proprietary? If not id LOVE for you to post it here. You can even self brand it
![]() I agree on your Goudey Premium sentiment - its so much better looking than the Play Ball - ive still not seen a single one for sale in the last 6 months which certainly hits the very scarce designation. |

Mike are you 99% complete on all the Goudey Wide Pens? How long did it take you to complete? I was going to focus on Type 4 for now...

...Yes , all five types ; some may not exist ---the PSA Pop Report checklist has a " Nutticomb " and a " Webb" which are not on any other checklists I've ever seen . PSA is a poor source of information for vintage cards. They have trouble even identifying sets .

Cool stuff - thanks for sharing those - the top registered PSA Goudey Wide Pen set is at ~50%. Any reason why you haven't registered yours there?
