Tim, good to see you around.

Wesley, is it the scan or is that Bates really that shade of green. Looks like an E98 green shade on an E94.

Default Love those E98s!!!!

Scott,
Glad to see you and so many others appreciate E98s, as well as 94s. Thanks for starting this thread.
Rob A.- great to hear a shout out from you and I hope you are doing well. For those that are newer to the board, Rob is an early expert on e98s. He once had the largest collection of them a time ago, and was very valuable to me for information as I comprised my E98 Master Set over the last 10 years or so. (Along with tbob, Hey Bob M.!, the king of E94s; and Pete C., Hey Pete!)

I didn't want to clog up this thread with my set scans, but if you want to see every E98 card in all 4 colors, please go to page 157 of the threads. I hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoyed meeting and getting to know so many great people from the board while building my master set. Great memories and I hope all are doing well!!!!

Default E98s & E94s

Love the thread, and great cards everybody. Rob, awesome Lajoie's! Tim(whats up?!), the undisputed E98 king, was quite helpful to me in getting within a few of a master set. Here are some of my favorites...

Hi Tim! Glad to hear from you again after so long. I'm still working on that E94 master set and am down to needing less than 10 now in the various colors. It's been a grind the last few years trying to find the particular player with the particular color. The good news is I now have 5 of the 6 Cobbs, 5 of the 6 Wagners and 4 of the 6 Youngs, so the rest are all "commons" even though they are rare as hen's teeth. I even added another of the one-of-a-kind orange variations to my collection during the last year and have one more in my sights. Hope you can make it to Atlantic City in 2016 for the National.

great cards guys...I love these e cards! i sold my e94 set in the last year(poor timing for a change!)...and have returned my e card collecting to its roots where I began many years ago...master set of all colors of 1 player. Tim and Bob...your achievements w/master runs is incredible and takes a lot of time and moulah...amazing accomplishments.

So my e98 jennings run has been complete for a while now...but took a few years to complete 10 or so years ago.

And my e94 murray run may never be completed...as I need purple...as does bob...and godknows whomever else!!!!

pics pending.

I thought it was a green, but after looking at others, I am not sure now.
Since that pic was taken (with my phone), I have got a new scanner, so if I think about it later, I will scan it in.
Then, I would really appreciate you and others feedback on it.

Default Nice E98s!

Love to see so many beautiful and unique E98s!

Pete C.- That Lajoie is AWESOME!
Bob- Great to hear you are less than 10 away! Incredible- Less than 10 away from a Master E94 set!!!
Pete U.- Thanks for the compliment on my Master Set, and I love your Hughie run. That pose is one of my favorite and I believe the Jennings has the lowest overall population of any Hall of Famer between the TPGs.
Chuck- Outstanding Orange Brown! Congrats on your 1st!
Greg and Ed- Love the UNIQUE E98s- the scrap Young and the blanked back Jennings!

Here are few UNIQUE E98s that I own. The Orange Davis I posted about a year ago. I believe it is the only Orange E98 with an Old Put back in existence. It hasn't been authenticated by a TPG, mainly because I don't know if a TPG will authenticate it since it is laminated, but when I posted it, everyone seemed to agree it looked "real". What do you think??

The McGraw and the Meyers are centered on the front, but miscut on the back?????? The McGraw is a little off, while the Meyers is further off.

Since I am really new to this whole Prewar stuff, and this is my first E94 I ever owned, Can I get some assistance on this.
I know they came in Green & Olive (among others), but I am not skilled on the shades.
What is your opinions, is this green or Olive?
Which is more valuable?
ESTIMATE the value of this one, please.

Hi Wesley,

It's olive, but it's a bit lighter than other examples. The phone pic looked even brighter like an E98 shade of green.

There wouldn't be much difference in value if it was green instead of olive.

Dug out my "oddities" for both sets.

In the top scan, you have some e98 scrap cards that were handcut and left with oversized borders in Ford and Coombs. You also have a black and white Ford in the bottom left.

Second scan is one of my very favorite cards in my collection - a silver e94! You'll notice that the rest of the color on the card shows up just fine but for some reason this card missed the blue or red or whichever color pass the background was supposed to be which left it as a silver variation. I imagine since this came from a sheet I'm assuming that there are others like this somewhere, kind of like the orange variations.

Bottom scan is of a dark green and handcut e94 Bates, also with oversized borders. I also have a red blank-backed e98 Tinker...

Fun thread for sure!!

Wesley- your card is the Olive background Bates. I have found the Olive tougher than the Dark Green but both sell for about the same price.
Congrats on your first E94, hope you get many, many more.
Pete- If I ever find two violet Murrays, rest assured the second will be on its way to your door. I don't know why the violet one is so tough although I know there are some "violet" collectors out there who buy up all the purple background cards.

Default E94 Violet Murray

Pete & Bob, hope I'm not rubbing it in but here's my violet Murray. I wasn't sure this existed until I was lucky enough to have a friend help me out with my violet set and part with his. I'll keep you guys in the loop if another pops up.

Pete- Your owning this card is what keeps me going that there is another one out there somewhere that will someday make it to ebay or an auction house. I woefully recognize the fact, though, that I'm probably going to have to get it in a near set or complete set from an auction house and break the lot up and sell the rest of the e94s but it won't be the first time I have had to do that.

Thanks guys, and I'm sure there are others floating around out there. I need just the Wagner for my set, but if I ever break it up, one of you will get it for sure!
