Virtually every state with a use tax requires self-assessment if the vendor does not charge and collect sales tax as agent for the state. That is, you have an obligation to pay as consumer, even if a vendor doesn't charge you.

States like California regularly audit large purchases to ensure that consumers (both business and personal) have properly self-assessed.

It keeps tax lawyers in business.

Leon ...really amazing ....Maybe you could repeat some of your story as to when you started collecting and HOW you obtained some of your incredible items.....I think we all would enjoy the stories behind some of those unique and one of a kind items.....Good luck ...I am sure you will do well!!

I've only been into pre-war cards for maybe 4 years but this is the coolest auction I've seen yet. I will try to win an item or two but it will not be easy!

Just perused my catalog. Loved looking at your collection Leon. Also thought it was cool to see a picture of you and your daughter. I've been partial to the Young/mullaney since I first saw it, but it's a little steep for me. However there are about 10or 12 that I'm thinking I could make a run at.
