Just wondering if any of you guys display some subset of your cards, or maybe that's a bad idea? If you do, and you have any photos of your display setup, that would be appreciated.
With the pre-80's cards I imagine the are fairly sensitive to sun fading (and maybe even ambient room lighting). How worried are you about that? There is probably UV glass that they could be framed in, but I imagine that can get pretty pricey. Are there individual card holders that have UV protection in the plastic? |

IVe wanted to display mine but havent found the proper protection for them in order to do so. I used to have them around my room in shelves but took them away and hid them from sunlight.

As long the cards are not in direct sun light and room lighting. Indirect lighting or natural light should be fine. I don't display my cards all the time.

just via monthly pick up threads and via computer. once they hit the house and fill up my "to be filed" box, they parallel the same ending as the ark of the covenant in the radiers of the lost ark!

Built Al my own display cases. No sunlight in the room plus uv glass and very little artificial light on.
Here are a few (shown before)

Thanks for the link KCRfan1. It should be fun to browse through that.
I'm actually looking for something more specific: displaying just cards (which are essentially 2-dimensional and approximately the same size) rather than assortments of 3-dimensional objects of varying sizes. almostdone: thanks for those photos. Did you make those display cases yourself? Glass or plexi fronts? Last edited by Mesquite; 06-12-2015 at 05:13 PM. |

Yes. All the ones shown I made myself. Depends on the fronts. I've used both plexi and glass. Plexi is easier to cut for me but also easier to scratch in the building process.
I've made others for my collection as well as friends. I like designing different layouts making the case unique. The large ones in the photos housed my HOF collection.(which has since been downsized). I am planning on building a case to house the Red Heart set I'm working on if I can ever find a Enos Slaughter to finish it. Here is another display I designed and put together last year featuring one of the nicest players that played, Carl Erskine. The display features his record setting World Series game in 1953, since been broken. Hope you enjoy! Drew

Sorry for the glare.
I use LED bulbs (supposed to put out less UV) and the blinds/drapes are always closed. ![]() ![]()

I more or less collect with the explicit goal of making displays. I either use Pennzoni cases or buy my own frames. As for damage from light, I keep the shades down in the card room and avoid really expensive cards.

I am actually blinded by the awesomeness of your Detroit collection. Tell me the story of how those two 1978 Topps cards made the cut!

Those are Burger King rookie cards of 2 should be in the Hall players. An MVP award is all that separate them from Sandberg and Larkin.

Awesome! I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me! The pair looked familiar but I didn't know about the BK. Nice job!
