Default Brooks Robinson

I really like this thread, but haven't seen any items displayed lately so I figured I'd add one. I personally enjoy looking at all of the odd-ball stuff!

By the way, if anyone knows what this picture pertains to I'd like to know. Was thinking it may be something used for a shoe ad since the sneakers definitely look out of place on the field It would also be a possibility for First Federal as well?!?

Default Bobby Grich

Al,

On the Bobby Grich piece it looks like they're meant to be cut out; is this the case? Those are all cool items by the way.

Default Tribute sheets

The cards on all 3 could be cut and are standard size, but the Ashburn sheet is actually perforated so the cards could be popped out

The Grich and Ashburn are listed in the SCD Standard Catalog under Topps issues, but not the Rypken

Default Ashburn sheet

Hmm... If they were perforated and meant to be taken off then why would they put the cartoon player w/in the area of the card? Looks better as a poster ad anyway.

My guess would be as it contains the palms and looks like a Florida shot, plus is signed after his Hof induction that this is a freebie from the fantasy camps he used to have in ft. Myers in the mid 80s to early 90s.

Thanks for your thoughts on the Brooksie picture. I believe the photo is likely from at least near the time frame of the picture which is around 1964. Notice the facsimile signature, which is Brooks' style from the 1960's and the picture was likely taken during spring training that year (Miami). I purchased this from 16goldgloves, which is Brooks' companies eBay user ID, a few years ago. Most of the items they put up are recently signed even though some of the pieces are older items. Wish they wouldn't do that, but they do. Personally I like the vintage items unsigned and/or signed during the time frame of the piece.

It's a hard one to place for sure. I was thinking it was a point of sale piece for pf flyers too, but I have never seen brooksie on their material before. You would think they would have used him more if he was. The ads I have seen are just the common ones like in this HA auction.

Good luck on the mystery!
